This Privacy Policy describes how ExpenseBase (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information in the ExpenseBase mobile application (“App”). We are committed to a private, on-device design.
1. Summary
- Data stays on your device. Your records are stored locally using Apple’s Core Data.
- No account, no tracking. The App does not require an account and does not use third‑party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- You control exports. When you export a ledger and receipts, you choose where to save or share those files.
2. Data we process
- Expense records: amounts, dates, categories, notes, and other fields you enter.
- Attachments: images or files you add to an expense.
- Optional interoperable data: if you choose to import income from ClientBase or similar sources available on your device.
3. How data is stored
All data is stored locally on your device. The App does not transmit your records to our servers because we don’t run any. If you enable device-level backups (e.g., iCloud Backup or encrypted Finder backups), copies of App data may be included in those backups according to your system settings.
4. Exports
When you export a ledger or a receipts bundle, the files are generated on-device and presented through the iOS share sheet. You decide where to store them (e.g., Files, email, cloud storage). Handle exported files carefully, since they may contain sensitive information.
5. Permissions
The App may request access to your photo library or camera only when you choose to attach receipt images. You can change permissions in iOS Settings.
6. Children
The App is not directed to children under 16. If you believe a child has submitted personal data within the App, contact us and remove the data from the device.
7. Your rights (EU/EEA including Ireland & UK)
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data. Because your data is stored locally, you can perform most actions directly within the App or by deleting the App from your device. For additional assistance, contact daragh.dev@icloud.com.
8. Security
We use the platform’s storage and permission model. Protect access to your device with a strong passcode and keep your system up to date. We recommend encrypted device backups.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect product changes or legal requirements. Changes will be posted here with a revised “Last updated” date.
